The Buzz: Agnieszka Holland's latest is one of two top contenders for the Best Foreign Language Oscar (the other being Jodaeiye Nader az Simin). Co-stars Robert Wieckiewicz and Agnieszka Grochowska have helped keep the project in the news since they are co-starring in the biopic Walesa, which I sense we might be talking about this time next year. More than obvious credit is due to screenwriter David Shamoon, who was persistent in his effort to get Holland to direct after she passed on the project, citing an initial unwillingness to revisit the Holocaust in her work.
